GRACE
BIO
Grace Bio has been an artist her entire life. Inspired by a
vintage mermaid film, she started out drawing around her house
at a very young age. Instead of getting mad, her parents encouraged
her talent. Her brother & sister also being artists motivated
her to keep her drive as an artist.
Raised by a Navy family, she traveled extensively until her family
decided to call Jacksonville home in 1991. Attending Landon, Lavilla,
Douglas Anderson (where she graduated from in 2005) & FSC
(for her transfer credits), she gained a broader view of the art
& educational world. While she was at FSC, she fulfilled a
position as an Art Assistant for Anne Banas & Dustin Harewood,
then the Art Director for the Library. At the current moment,
she is gaining more experience for her career & will be attending
Flagler College for her Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design/Illustration.
So far, she has exhibited her work all throughout Jacksonville
& St. Augustine, including: Artwalk, Joe Van Dyke Art/Music
shows, TheOuterBox exhibitions, Flux Gallery, most FSC campuses,
The Argyle Branch Library, Starbucks, The Tangerine Festival,
The Landing, Café 331 (to name a few) and has done Live
Art for The Monica Monet Experience, Nokturnal Escape, Crown Capital,
The Cypher, DJ Fingerprince's "Get Right" @ Cafe 331
and the list doesn't stop there!
In the near future, after she finishes her degree, she wants to
start a business with her loved ones & hopes to be an International
Illustrator.
Keep your eye on this young artist as she continually strives
for success with her intense passion of art!

NICK FRESH
"Armed with an indelible love and encyclopedic knowledge
of music, NickFRESH
has a way with audiences exciting them with his incredible mixing
and
entertainment skills! Born and raised in Jacksonville, Nick's
love for music
was cultivated at a very early age as he was always surrounded
by all kinds
of music. It wasn't until he was four that he was in classical
training and
music theory for piano and by eight, he was already mixing with
two
turntables for family and friends. Nick picked up the trumpet
and accordion
as he thinks of himself as a 'casual autodidact.' As the years
progressed,
Nick also played in a few local rock bands and started work at
Clear Channel
(his first job) as an on-air radio personality throughout high
school and
college. It was during this time that Nick created SoulTrainFans,
a fan
community that was responsible for reuniting former dancers of
the show and
putting vintage episodes of the iconic television show back on
the air
(amongst other things). STF is still is online to this day and
Nick
considers that one of his greatest achievements thus far.
NickFRESH now performs his various musical skills in and out of
town. Very
passionate about the
various styles and sounds of music he showcases, he has
been known to actually get into the crowd with partygoers and
dance in
spurts during his live mixes - just one of the characteristics
of a
NickFRESH party you definitely should not miss."

JEANECE LYLES
Jeanece Lyles, 24,
entered this plane as an artistic visionary. Inspired by the
teachings of life and the human experience in its various layers,
Lyles expresses her interpretations of life and humanity through
abstract visual art and writing. As a youth, Lyles began using
visual art and writing as an alternate Universe to relieve stress
and to make sense of life when it seemed irrational. As an adult,
Lyles uses her gifts to subjectively express Self while simultaneously
connecting with others in a positive way, exploring the subjects
of introspection and human interaction amongst others.
Lyles has exhibited
in several shows locally including New Beginnings at the Women's
Center of Jacksonville (2010), Through Our Eyes at the Ritz
Theatre and Museum (2008 and 2009) and the annual Student Holiday
Show at FCCJ’s Kent Campus (2005). She has also judged
Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s annual Congressional Art
Contest for high school students for two consecutive years (2008
and 2009).
Lyles graduated Magna
Cum Laude from the University of North Florida in 2008, receiving
a B.A. in English with a philosophy minor.

INGRID
MATHURIN
Ingrid's Abstract Art (IAA) and Soulistic Art Designs (SAD) is
not
only a name it is also a new form of art with a vision to empower
people in every walk of life. IAA holds an important role in the
community as a method of motivation and creativity. SAD has gained
many accomplishments yet, this is only the commencement of the
journey for this valued artist. Since 2004 until recently IAA
produces for the Empowerment Art Auction where the accomplishment
of 8 Vision Within Us Pieces sold the first month of display.
IAA is also a foundation for other artists to broaden. Ingrid
has not limited her learning abilities; she uses her power to
inspire others interested in her rare art form. She juried the
2007 Juneteenth festival art show where she earned the Emerging
Artist award winner. In Oct 2007 IAA sponsored the piece Hope
to the ArtReach Alliance; a grassroots organization grown into
a community-based, multi-disciplinary organization serving artists
and art patrons alike. Ingrid is an active member of JCAAA, Jacksonville
Consortium of African American Artists. In 2007 she participated
in the group show Dignified Holiday Images of Dignity, Karpeles
manuscript museum. IAA has created a number of works, many being
a part of prestigious art walks and exhibits throughout the city
of Jacksonville. Her collection includes: Ecstasy Passionate Fruits
(2007) displayed in art walk at the Bread and Butter cafe downtown
Jacksonville. This art depicts the nature of fruit in a zealous
aspect with vibrancy. Random Thoughts consist of two pieces that
allow the viewer to base the body as an art form in its nudity.
This piece was featured in a 2008 art exhibit at FCCJ downtown
campus. Vibrate Sam created March 2008 Dizzy's Bubble Gum Miles
Davis Blues Soulistic Art Central Park Young Marley Ecstasy Supernova
Poppy Love Smoke Ingrid has been able to create splendid performances
and capture her creativity in an abstract art form. Her ingenuity
is often recognised and in 2008 she was featured in the February
Edition of Jacksonville Buzz Magazine. Her art work was featured
as the publication Artists in Unexpected Places. IAA is known
to not only move individuals that are artists, she has taken the
interest of children, high paid athletes and other people from
many different walks of life. IAA in addition bid a piece to Marketing
and Promotion Company Point Blank Entertainment. This company
is very well known for entertaining teenage audiences, a group
which IAA is all too familiar. IAA allows her work to speak for
itself by promoting the youth to follow their dreams. She was
a guest speaker at the William Carter Elementary School Feb 2008
where she was given the opportunity to interact with students
and share her story. Ingrid believes that it is never too early
to instill in one fundaments and values. |

LEE MILLER
"I was born drawing & creating my own books. When I
was 10, I was shown the paintings of my sister's boyfriend's
brother (but not his brother's girlfriend's roommate). His name
was John Nickle. He went on to do kid's books like The Ant Bully.
He inspired me to start painting with his fantasy landscapes
& is still one of my favorite modern surrealists. My sister
& I particularly liked what we called "Flamenters",
little carrot men that always appeared in John's stuff. Those
fascinated me. Throughout middle school & highschool I rarely
got allowances, I supplemented my income drawing things for
other kids. Pictures of boy bands, comics, caricatures of teachers,
whatever anyone wanted. I was a peddler, every school's black-market
nightmare. It got me in trouble more than once, but a dollar
a picture is hard to resist. As a teen, I took painting lessons
from an elderly German lady who taught me technique. We would
spend time after lessons talking...why did Pollock's paintings
look like he was drunk (Answer: "He vas!"), what was
living in WWII Germany like ("It vas crazee, like Heetler").
After high school I went to Waycross Junior College for my Liberal
Arts AA & apprenticed under Jerry Luke, a superb artist
& a great mentor. From him I learned I can do whatever the
hell I want. Machine guns and butterflies. These are the people
who have influenced me more than anyone, the symbiosis that
youth makes possible. My work is often dark, but I'm not humorless.
My output tends to be surrealist, dadaist, abstract, because
this has been the nature of my life. There are mistakes in life,
but as Bob Ross says, there are no mistakes in art. Things change,
but this has always been a constant. It never leaves. It's consistent.
More consistent than my bios."

TUFFY
Jacksonville Florida's Tuffy has been slowly building momentum
and fans over the past couple years and based on recent performances,
looks poised to continue expanding their popularity. Formed
by principal song writers Sean Madgett and Howie Winkler, Tuffy
started as a 2 piece recording project for the long time friends
who recorded low-fi, layering vocals and multiple instruments.
Upon playing some well received shows in and around Jacksonville,
the 2 piece decided to fill out the live sound with a full band.
They got some friends to help out and they've been going strong
for the last couple years building a loyal fanbase in the process.
Tuffy's songs sound chaotic yet melodic with layered harmonies
and just enough space between the notes. They are often compared
to bands ranging from Pavement, to Sonic Youth, to My Morning
Jacket, but they have a sound all their own. The current line
up of five friends includes Winkler and Madgett on vocals and
guitar, local comedian Joel Land on bass, Earol Aguilar and
his spaced out guitars, and Spencer Romani rounding up the line
up on drums. They have released sporadic D.I.Y. albums and tried
to make sure the people who wanted copies of the songs were
able to get them, but the best way to experience Tuffy is to
see a live show. After sharing the stage with such artists as,
Phosphorescent, Black Kids, Tracy Shedd, Captured by Robots,
The One AM Radio, Islands, and The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow
Players, the band joined forces with local Jacksonville DIY
upstarts Infintesmal Records. The band is currently putting
the finishing touches on their summer 2010 and is putting together
an east coast tour to support the release.
